Hi all,

I can't find any DIY telling me the proper way to pop the plastic cover off the side of the seat (drivers) so I can swap out the big ol' electrical switch. Can someone forward me some info - I assume it's out there.

Thank you,

Jay

So, for people who done this before on a 4.8 N62, are the bolts reverse thread or normal thread counterclockwise? I heard it's the reverse thread on 4.4s. I think it's the normal thread on 4.8s just want to make sure. Thanks!

Ride quality is down...

So the ride quality of my 2007 X5 4.8 sport has been degrading over time. Lots of noises from front suspension when going over bumps or driving on rough pavement. So far i have replaced the sway bar end links and the car got a bit quieter but i still get occasional clunking noise.

What else to replace in order to enhance the ride quality to near stock :)..

Cheers!!

Hi everyone. Have a 2011 x5 35d with 169,000 mile s and thanks to this forum have been able to solve a ton of issues. Recently had dpf and egr issues and addressed both to success! Now a new monster has reared its head and I can’t find any info. Engine went into limp mode today (engine operating at reduced power) and just happened to have my Carley with me .... codes new to me;

04F6F - high torsional vibrations/error hydra;ic pump

004BD9 - injector cylinder 6 control

Any idea or direction would be great;y appreciated😀

Need help identifying electrical plugs behind the driver's kick panel

$

So, months ago I took off the upper and lower trim panels under the steering wheel to gain access to the ECU, and disconnected some wires.

However, I did not try to put it all back on until today and there are some wire plugs which I can't figure out where they go. One of those plugs is light blue and the other is brownish red. Anyone know where these two electrical plugs go? They are smallish (4 pins) like those for speakers or for small bulbs. They are dangling near the ECU.

Thanks!

A Completely NEW air conditioning problem :)

Ok the 2001 I recently bought has a unique ac problem.

The air conditioning works perfectly when you first crank the car up and works flawless for awhile. Then the car turns the compressor off and wont turn the compressor back on for 5 or 10 minutes. The it will cool fine for 5 to 10 minutes. Then it turns the compressor off again.

Rinse and repeat.

I have verified the low and high side pressure with the gauge set I have.

Even know the actual temperature of the Freon a the high and low side (cool digital gauges :) )

No fault codes.

Also I watched all the live data from the computer and all the numbers look great. Even the pressure readings show fine according to the computer.

So if the car is blissfully so damn happy why does it keep turning off the compressor ?!?!???

The scan tool clearly shows the car is commanding the compressor off but looking at the data there is no reason for it do that.

Suggestions?

X3 F25 DSC and TPSM Issues

Hey guys thanks for the add. I have a 2013 X3 XDrive2.0 and its been going great until now. The DSC and TPSM lights came on and I took it to a BMW specialist and it gave the following codes. Thank you all lovely people for helping out!!! ;););)

**INTEGRATED CHASSIS MANAGEMENT (4 faults)**
4827BA ICM: Procedure error detected
48002C ICM: ACC: interface DSC
480121 ICM: inter yaw-rate signal implausible
480122 ICM: internal control unit fault

**DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (4 faults)**
480AB8 DSC control unit:Vehicle start with vehicle moving or driving condition unknown
D35A3F ICM interface (vehicle yaw rate, ID: 0X19F) signal invalid
D35A62 Signal (lateral acceleration, centre of gravity, 0X19A) invalid, transmitter ICM/EPS
D35A53 Signal (actual steering angle, front axle, 57.1.2) invalid, transmitter ICM/EPS

**FOOTWELL MODULE (2 faults)**
800F92 Welcome light, repeat interlock, active
E58514 Interface, ICM transmitter (yaw rate, 0x19F): signal invalid

**ELECTROMECHANICAL POWER STEERING (1 fault)**
D51A53 ICM interface (actual steering angle, front axle, 57.1.2): signal invalid

**CRASH SAFETY MODULE (1 fault)**
C9542D Signal(driving speed, 0x19F) invalid, transmitter ICM

**CENTRAL GATEWAY MODULE (1 fault)**
801C20 ZGM: Central fault memory full - no control-unit fault

Additional info:

When the car turns on or ignitions on, no warning lights pop up. 3 seconds after the car starts rolling the DSC and TPSM warning lights appear. I have taken the battery into BMW for a full charge and cleared the codes to eliminate the cause of a lack of juice. SO the codes you see now actually point to something(s) thats actually wrong.

Atm, car will only go into comfort mode. When parked at the lights (car stopped) I can toggle into Sport or Eco modes, but as soon as the car begins moving the system will default back to comfort mode.

Generally car runs fine apart from the lights. Turns fine with no knocks/shudder/noise. BMW tech took it out on a road test and did not notice anything abnormal. It runs just like any other X3 I've tried but the lights suggest something is wrong.

X5 35d code 4670 Power Supply 1 - Short Circuit to B+

X5 35d code 4670 Power Supply 1 - Short Circuit to B+

I had this code three times so far. One was on a very cold dry day 5mins after startup, One was on a wet day 1 min after startup and today on a dry day after being fully warned up. It's odd and clears after I stop to check codes because of the limp mode that comes and goes.

The first time when it was cold it persisted longer and during that period I had other codes that came and went, for rail pressure or map sensor or fuel low pressure sensor. Those are all listed for under power supply 1 and probably a result of the 4670 code which seems to cut things to protect a short etc.

Voltage is stable throughout the issue 14.5v today for example and the battery is 2 months old agm. Never had this issue before and it being intermittent not related to rain confuses me.

I intend to check the test plan with ista/Rheingold when I am home tonight.

Intake air temperature sensor

Hi all, so I was playing around with my odb2 scanner (iCarsoft 910 ii) for another problem and came across what looked to be a fault code with the air intake temp sensor. My model is the E53 2005 4.4i sport v8. The images below show the DTC fault code and the second image is from live datastream which I assume is showing the temp reading for this part. Anyway, I am trying to locate where it is. Is this part of the MAF. ie does the MAF sensor do the intake temp as well. Or, is it at a hard to get at location?

Hope someone can make a comment.

2004 x5 3.0i and missfire Help

So hopefully someone can point me in a direction of something that I have not tried yet. My x5 runs great idle is as smooth as a brand new car, but when going down the road with a light foot on the gas it stutters and the dreaded check engine light comes on but goes back to running fine.
The codes I am getting are secondary-air hot-film air mass sensor, trimming 02 before cat bank 1 and trimming before cat bank 2.

I have replaced disa valve, replaced CCV, cleaned Iac "all new gaskets well I was there, new plugs, new mass air flow sensor and had it smoke tested to be sure of no leaks.I also changed fuel filter and verified pressure.

I have read numerous thing on this and have tried almost everything, could the secondary mass be part of the trouble?

If anyone has a thought please share as I am ready to give up, but am in to deep to stop.

EHC Air Pump Repair Kit Installed/Review(Amazon)

Installed this over the previous weekend: WABCO Compressor Rebuild Kit.

Install was easy, if a little fiddly. Lowered the truck to the bottom and pulled the associated fuses before removing pump. Very little air (if any) escaped the system when I disconnected the compressor air line. I managed to spill the OE dryer beads which was fun to clean. Only spilled 10% of them and it still took a good half hour to find them all (all the ones I could find anyway). I did this as a preventative measure since I am slowly working on my audio system and access to the pump is easier now than it will be later.

I was not having any EHC errors or other troubles besides sagging if the vehicle sat (long time... month). Figured for ~$36 it was cheap PM and my pump could probably use a refresh. Cylinder bore looked okay and the old piston ring did not appear too bad either, though there was some wear obviously. Fitted everything and had the pump back in the truck within a couple of hours. I did not disconnect the battery or anything while servicing. Upon reinstalling the pump and putting the fuses back in, turning the truck on, and engaging the system I thought something was wrong. Before I could distinctly hear the pump engaging but now it is almost dead silent with the rear cover on. I was not getting any errors on the dash or foxwell so I put it into the highest position and picked a horizon landmark for the hood and could see the truck go up... fast. So, everything is working great. Quieter and possibly faster than before the service. So this kit gets a  from me. Just thought I would share with you all in case someone else was interested.

Largest tire size for square setup?

$

Hey guys, I'm looking at a 20" +25 offset wheel and want to run square with spacers in the rear to push the back wheels out a bit to offset from the narrower tire, and I'm wondering what the largest size tire I could run safely would be?

The tire shop is thinking I can run 295 wide tire and they figure the would stick out in the front around 1.25" wider than stock. I'm fine with the more aggressive look, I just want to avoid rubbing.

If anyone has any experience with square setups I would appreciate your input on experiences.

If I'm not mistaken at least one of Xoutpost's members runs square.. I just can't recall who.

Thanks in advance for any input!
